Letting his concentration lax, Gwayn lets his body shimmer into view, "Hmmm, " he says, "It has been a long time since someone has walked the land of Fire." He keeps the hood of his cloak pulled down low, "Who are you to be brazen enough to claim rulership of a land that once belonged to a good friend of mine?"

Ryne sat along the edge of the fire element, taking a small break from his travels along the long road. As he sat there, he let his mind reach out into the surrounding area to see if animals were around. His mind touched upon the presence of several so he asked, "Has anyone came this way recently, my friends?". Relaxing, he waited for a response.
Eventually, from a distance, he heard, "Yes, one who has laid claim to these lands and the other we could not see, but we did feel the passing."
"Hmmm...so someone new has come and laid claim to fire...and one they did not see? I wonder who can pass the animals here only in feeling but not by any other sense?" Ryne rose dusting himself off, "Well, I guess I had better go and see these two for myself. it has been long since I have had the chance to speak with someone. Maybe they'll have news as to what is going on in this land." he said dashing off to were the animals last sensed the two people.
Ryne slowed down as he neared their location and climbed up into a nearby tree. Silently he watched the two and listened to see if they may be friend or foe.
The words of the cloaked being rang in his ears, "So the original leader of fire is no longer here? hmmm...i wonder what happened?" as he pondered this, he shifted his foot and part of a dead branch fell through the leaves, rustling them a bit as it passed. Ryne held his breath as he waited to see if anyone heard the branch.

Gwayn stood waiting for the cloaked figure to give him some type of response. His mind reeled through the past as he tried to recall who this person was. He couldn't pinpoint any one memory that would let him know who it was that stood before him.
A rustling of leaves to his left brought him out of his thoughts and back to the present. "There is someone else about. I wonder if they are here to protect this one?" Briefly, Gwayn thought about slipping into the invisibility spell of his cloak, but instead, he decided on a little bit more brazen of an action. "At least this way, if there are any more about, they'll know i'm paying attention."
Slowly, he turned towards the new arrival, "Come, show yourself stranger. Come and join your friend out in the open." Gwayn gently moved his cloak back and layed his hand on the hilt of his sword, "I know you are out there. It will be far better for you to come to me, then for me to go to you."

"He heard that from here? This guy has got some seriously good hearing." Carefully, Ryne stood and walked out to the edge of the branch he was on, his body blended in with the surrounding folage, giving him the reseblance of a bodiless head bouncing along.
"The question still remains, friend or foe?" Effortlessly, he reached out to the animal that told him of these two. Before speaking to it, he delved a little bit into the creatures psyche to better tell what he was speaking with. "ah, a wolf. that is why he still sensed the second one. Wolf's senses are very accute."
"My friend, these are the two that you spoke of correct?"
"Yes that is the two leg i spoke of. The second to pass through, i felt to be a two legged, but couldn't see the two leg. I only felt its aura, one of goodness,but shrouded in death."
"Will you come watch my flank brother?"
"I come."
With the reassurance of the wolf, Ryne spoke, "I am not looking for any trouble. I am just a traveler passing through the area. I only came this way because I spotted your trail and wondered who could be passing through here on the same path as I." Ryne thought about readying his bow, but stayed his hand as he thought about the wolf. "My back will be well watched, no need for me to get worried now."
Ryne leapt from the tree and landed softly out in the open. He took in the sight of the two in front of him, the cloaked man had his hand resting on the hilt of a fine sword. Its hilt glimmering in the diminishing sun light. The man's posture spoke seasoned fighter. Ryne knew he didn't want to get within range of that weapon. His eyes shifted to the other figure, the one who had claimed fire for her own. Anyone who willingly claimed a land had to possess strength beyond that of a normal person. "I would do well to watch myself." He stood there waiting for one of them to make the next move.

Gwayn watched the stranger as he landed out in front of them, his eyes darting to the bow slung across the man's back, "A hunter? Wonder who or what he is hunting?"
Gwayn scanned the area looking for any others that might still concealed, waiting to assist their companion. "Well, there is one way to tell what kind of individual is standing before me." Gwayn reached up and pulled back his hood, letting his long white hair spill out. His slightly ashen skin standing out in the bright sunlight.
Gwayn looked up and locked the man with his swirling grey eyes, "My name is Gwayn, nice to meet you my friend. How long have you been traveling these lands?"

Ryne reflexively took a step back as Gwayn pulled back his hood, "Drow? What have I gotten into?"
When he heard Gwayn's words, he couldn't hide his surprise, "Drow are not friendly by any means." Cautiously, he stepped back toward Gwayn, taking a better look at who stood before him. "His hair is drow, but he has facial hair like me. And his eyes, he is a half breed too. That explains it." Ryne's body visibly relaxed.
Knowing that his first reaction would not be missed, "Please excuse my reaction, but I am pretty sure that you have experienced it before. My name is Ryne and nice to meet you friend. I have to admit this is my first time in the Land of Fire. I have heard it can be a rough land at times."

Gwayn took the reaction in stride, "This one has seen drow before and, like most, probably had an usual drow experience." Gwayn gave a bow of his head, "Ryne, do not worry about it. As you have said, that was not the first time I have seen that kind of reaction to my kin."
Gwayn cast a look around the area, "Fire can be a difficult land to cross, especially when it is at war. It can be even more dangerous when you traverse it alone and ignorant of its dangers."

Ryne brought his attention back to Gwayn, "Do not think just because this is my first time in the Land of Fire, that I have come here unprepared. "

Ryne thought on Gwayn's questions for a minute, "What is this guy getting at?".
"If you are asking if I am confident with my skills, then yes I have faith in my abilities. But whether or not I could keep you from killing me, I don't really know you. But I can promise that you will not have an easy go at it."
"Is this guy fixing to try me? What is his deal?"

Gwayn exploded into action, his blade coming out in a flash of green light. The unique ring of the blade sounding across the field. Gwayn smiled as the blade arced towards Ryne, the air whistling as the blade sliced through the air.
"This should be fun!"

"Is the guy nuts! " Ryne drew his knife knuckles slipping one on just in time to catch the blow of the blade. He let the moment of the swing send him into a series of back flips. Ryne came up with both knuckle blades on, "You don't want to do this! What have I done to you? I'm just passing through, I am not looking for a fight." Ryne started to circle around Gwayn, his hands weaving patterns in the air, "Look, I'm gonna give you one chance to back down and this is it. Attack me again and I will fight back!"
"I come!"
"NO! Not yet. I don't want you to reveal yourself. Let's see how this goes. If it looks like I'm in trouble I'll call you."
"As you wish, pup. But this one is strong. He smells of many battles. That sharp stick has taken many a life. It is well versed in the arts of war. Don't say I didn't warn you."

"He is giving me a chance. A mistake of inexperience. When someone attacks you, you don't give them a chance. You stop the threat with any means necessary!"
Gwayn watched Ryne circle, shaking his head, "What do you mean give me a chance? That is a mistake. You never give someone a chance when they've attacked you!"
Gwayn rushed in, his blade nothing but a blur in front of him. He came in thrusting low, testing Ryne's reaction.
